Meet the Presenters
Michaela Epstein
After searching for ways to make professional learning more collaborative and meaningful, Michaela founded Maths Teacher Circles in 2020. In her work, Michaela seeks to help primary and secondary teachers reignite their own curiosity for mathematics and develop strategies that will enable all students to become confident mathematical thinkers.
Michaela's aim is to make every Maths Teacher Circles session an incredible experience that will leave teachers excited about teaching maths again.
Jennifer Bowden
Jennifer is a Mathematics Educational Consultant at the Mathematical Association of Victoria. She is known for supporting student understanding through practical and engaging tasks.
Jennifer has extensive experience in leading professional learning and coaching teachers in primary schools across Victoria and loves seeing students and teachers connect with mathematics in new ways.
Thanom Shaw
Thanom is a secondary teacher at SCEGGS Darlinghurst, Sydney, who is dedicated to helping students gain an appreciation for the beauty and elegance of mathematics. She has a passion for opportunities that allow girls to engage and excel in mathematics.
Thanom has long been involved with the National Mathematics Summer School and in 2018 was appointed to serve as Leader of the Australian team for the European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad Team, an international maths competition for female school-aged students. In 2014, she also spent a year immersed in the studying and teaching of university-level Mathematics at UNSW.
