MEET THE PRESENTERS
Amie Albrecht

Amie is Associate Professor of Mathematics and a teacher educator at the University of South Australia. Amie’s teaching focuses on developing mathematical thinking and problem-solving skills by giving students opportunities to explore their own mathematical ideas, leading them to share delightful and unexpected ways of approaching problems.

Her goal is for everyone to develop a richer understanding of mathematics, and she works with teachers to incorporate these authentic mathematical practices into their own classrooms.

Amie will inspire you to develop mathematical agency.

Samantha Hellessey

Intrigued by and drawn to numbers for as long as she can remember, Sam loves combining foundational maths tasks with ones that enrich learning.

Sam's current role as Head of Mathematics Enrichment at a Victorian Secondary School has seen her develop and lead implementation of a Junior School Problem Solving Program and guide best practice curriculum planning.

Recently Sam has focused on the needs of High Ability Students, facilitating a Maths Olympics Team and co-leading staff in High Ability workshops.

Sam will inspire you to stretch your thinking in new ways.

Michaela Epstein

After searching for ways to make professional learning more collaborative and meaningful, Michaela founded Maths Teacher Circles in 2020. In her work, Michaela seeks to help primary and secondary teachers reignite their own curiosity for mathematics and develop strategies that will enable all students to become confident mathematical thinkers.

Michaela's aim is to make every Maths Teacher Circles session an incredible experience that will leave teachers excited about teaching maths again.

Michaela will inspire you to be mathematically curious.
